The five consecutive clean audit city boasts with several more awards for a credible IDP touted as smart and relevant to the needs of the community.

“We will he holding public participation meetings for the 4th generation IDP Review 2019/2020. This is to provide a platform for community members, citizens, Amakhosi and critical stakeholders to actively participate in a progressive and sustainable development of the municipality across all wards. We call upon all Amakhosi and their traditional councils, business sector, SMMEs, youth structures, members of the public and all sector groups to take part in this process and actively contribute to the building of their municipality and to say what is their priority for the next financial year,” Mhlongo says.

The City has already opened different platforms for members of the public and stakeholders to view the draft IDP for 2019/2020 obtainable on public areas such as libraries, city offices and through visiting the city’s website:www.umhlathuze.gov.za.

Moreover, the city also encourages members of the public to comment and input through writing their suggestions and send them via  and through social media platforms of the city.

“The City of uMhlathuze is comprised of different multi-racial communities mainly young and techno-savvy who may want to engage through modern technological means to get their inputs across. We are also very much aware that we have a good mixture of urban, rural and traditional communities under our city and we want to reach to everybody and hear their thoughts about the development of the City as we strive at all times to take it to greater heights. We want to move in unison with our communities especially engaging on issues which are bread and butter to them. It is our duty as elected representatives to report from time to time and seek direction from people who voted us to lead them,” Mhlongo alludes.
