Environmental Services

The section is responsible for:

• Development and maintenance of parks, road verges, traffic islands, recreational areas and other public open spaces. ( grass cutting, tree planting etc)
• Performing conservation services through invader plant control.
• Presentation of Environmental education programmes at schools.
• Rehabilitation of degraded areas.
• Provision and Maintenance of Cemetery Space which includes grave digging, exhumations etc.
• Perform burial related administration (reservation of graves, erection of tombstones, record keeping etc.)

Sport And Recreation

This section is responsible for:

• Provision and maintenance of sport facilities and amenities, i.e. sports fields, pools, beaches
• Planning and presentation of sport specific activities and clinics
• Running competitions and tournaments.
• Facilitate and present sport leadership and empowerment courses.
• Presentation and development of recreational programmes.

Arts And Culture

This section is responsible for:

• Provision and Maintenance of Community Halls and Thusong Centres in the City of uMhlathuze
• Provision and Maintenance of public libraries
• Provision and Maintenance of a Museum in Empangeni.
