The City of uMhlathuze wishes to formally inform the public that the "NRB" license mark has become depleted on eNaTIS due to a steady growth in the motor licensing population in the Richards Bay area.
The Department of Transport cannot create a new license mark for the Richards Bay area, as it is seeking the necessary approvals from the Cabinet of KwaZulu Natal to migrate from the current 'discreet license numbering system' to the 'continuous license numbering system'.
Therefore it is not feasible to introduce a new license mark for Richards Bay but to rather use the "NUF" license mark which is already allocated to the Empangeni area, which also falls under uMhlathuze Municipality. Both Empangeni and Richards Bay will be issued with the NUF license mark with effect from 1 May 2023.
