Dear Members of the Media,
Agriculture plays a crucial role in enhancing economic development, job opportunities, and food security for our ever-growing population.
In the City of uMhlathuze Municipality, 70% of emerging farmers lack fundamental agricultural skills and expertise. The Ediphini program, initiated and implemented in Ward 32 Ndonwane, has been pivotal in assisting municipal officials in identifying challenges faced by farmers today. These challenges include a lack of market for their cattle, limited access to animal medication, and insufficient water for dipping tanks. Crop production farmers also encounter obstacles such as land preparation, water availability, market access, and soil testing results.
To address these challenges, the City of uMhlathuze, in partnership with various stakeholders, is launching the ISITHANGAMI SABALIMI NABAFUYI program. This initiative aims to increase agricultural output among small-scale farms by providing a platform for farmers to showcase their products, interact with specialists and officials, and foster collaboration within the agricultural community. Five hundred farmers have been invited to attend the event to promote Agribusiness in the City of uMhlathuze Municipality.
We cordially invite members of the media to cover this event:
